Conversation Analysis
A.    Context
This conversation happened on the night between Queen Victoria and her husband, Albert. They argue and fightin the bedroom after attending an event. Queen Vitoria was affended due to the words of Albert at the event when Queen Victoria and Albert conversation with Sir Robert.

B.     Data of Conversation

1.      Victoria    : How do you speak in that way to before them? How do you talk across me as if I were a child?
2.      Albert       : I did no such thing.
3.      Victoria    : OH NO? :: (0,2) You’ve sorted this ! You’ve sorted that you and Sir Robert! :: (0,2) You  and that Duke ! And a without reference to me! (quickly)
4.      Albert       : Victoria, I thought you’d be pleased!
5.      Victoria    : I’ll tell you what you thought! You thought :: (0,2) I was  A WOMAN to be petted and passed over  IGNORED ! (quickly)
6.      Albert       : Would it were so simple! Then we might avoid more scandals of your making!
7.      Victoria    : WHAT? Have you lost your mind! (quickly)
8.      Albert       : Do you wonder at it? Less have three years on the throne and you and your precious Melbourne have pashed the monarchy to the brink of abyss!
9.      Victoria    : I’ve told you before and I tell you again (quickly) your my husband here and that is all. (quickly)
10.  Albert       : It’s quite enough, BELIEVE ME! (quickly)
11.  Victoria    : I will not have my role usurped! Wear the crown and it there are    mistakes,  they will be my mistakes ! And no one also will make them! No one! NOT EVEN YOU. (quickly)
12.  Albert       : (0,4) ::::I’m leaving, before you exit yourself and harm the child !
13.  Victoria    : You will go when I dismiss you! I’M YOUR QUEEN AND I’M TELLING YOU TO STAY!
14.  Albert       : (0,4) ::::Good night Victoria.
15.  Victoria    : You may not go! YOU MAY NOT GO! I wonder you to stay here in this room! (quickly), Albert !

C.    Analysis of the conversation
a.         The characters of the speakers
·         Victoria
Based on the conversation above, we knew that Victoria to answer questions in a high tone and a little thinking. Victoria is a type high involvement style, because she is not give opportunity to Albert. She also has a strong character and will not budge, and considers him self the ultimate truth because she is a queen. This is proved by the utterance in number 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 15.
·         Albert
Based on the conversation above, we knew that Albert is calm person because he said in a low tone (number 2, 4, 6, 8, 12, 14). But he also a high tone to answer of Victoria respond because Albert as a head of household or as a husband did not want to be underestimated just because he was wrong to talk in front of others about the evils of the wife and the firm (number 10).


b.        The aspects marked in the conversation
1.      Stressing tone
The stressing tones of this conversation are “OH NO”, “A WOMAN”, “IGNORED”, “WHAT”, “BELIEVE ME, NOT EVEN YOU. This stressing tone aims to emphasize utterance in important topics
2.      Pauses
The pauses of this conversation are (0,2) in number 3, the speaker (Victoria) needs two seconds to think before uttering “Oh no! You’ve sorted this!”. And “you and sir Robert (0,2)” in number 3, the speaker (Victoria) needs two seconds to think before uttering “you and sir Robert! You and that Duke ”. It is can be inferred that Victoria is a type of passive person because she need any time (0,2) to think before choice her utterance to argue when she angry.
And Albert need a time (0,4) to answers the Victoria argue in number 12 and number 14, he is confused with Victoria argue so he is blank to responses.
3.      Adjacency Pair
·         Question-Answer
A squence of two utterances by different speakers in conversation. The second is a response to the first, e.g. question-answer.

Victoria         : How do you speak in that way to before them?
 How do you talk across me as if I were a child?
Albert            : I did no such thing.

In fact, Victoria give a signal at the beginning of the conversation by using a low tone to ask Albert to ultimately produce an answer.
·         The Invitation
Albert       : Victoria, I thought you’d be pleased!
Albert       : It’s quite enough, BELIEVE ME!
Victoria    : You will go when I dismiss you!
 I’M YOUR QUEEN AND I’M TELLING YOU TO STAY!
Victoria    : You may not go! YOU MAY NOT GO!
 I wonder you to stay here in this room! Albert !

·         This conversations are closing in number 14 is “Good Night Victoria”. Closing in conversation is very important because it is show that the speakers have found the clarity of the conversation.
